Student Journalists Bring Home 11 Awards

Students from CPHS’s Excalibur yearbook and the CPHS Inklings newspaper teams recently earned a combined 11 Rowena Harvey Awards for responsible, effective journalism. This annual competition awards winners who have the devotion and dedication of the late Rowena Harvey, past president of the Indiana High School Press Association and adviser of student publications at Fort Wayne South Side High School for 40 years. The 2023 winners have earned the top honors out of nearly 600 submissions of student journalism.

In addition to their awards, Crown Point High School senior Christopher Gloff was voted the Indiana High School Press Association Student Board President for 2023. Gloff recently introduced IHSPA conference keynote speaker David Haugh at the annual conference of more than 500 students. Gloff said he hopes to “bring more media convergence to the IHSPA, as well as introduce younger students to their opportunities in journalism when they get to high school.”
