CPHS Theatre to Perform The Wizard of Oz

The Crown Point High School Theatre Department is proud to present The Wizard of Oz this November. Tickets are on sale now. Directed by CPHS teacher J. Flewelling, the production is family-friendly and open to all ages. The show will have eight performances in the CPHS auditorium:

  • Evening performances will be November 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Matinee performances will be November 16, 22, and 23 at 1:00 p.m.
  • A sensory friendly performance will take place on November 15 at 1:00 p.m.

Select roles will be double cast, including Dorothy, who will be played by seniors Gabby Gunther and Triniti Colbert. Both actresses are thrilled to be a part of this production and reflect on the importance of this timeless show to them.

“I’m excited to be in the show because I have loved The Wizard of Oz ever since I was very young, and it’s something my whole family likes,” says Gunther.  “I’m excited to be in the show because it’s my senior year and I’m thrilled to be able to act with my friends for the last time in a show that is so magical and dear to people’s hearts,” says Colbert.

The sensory-friendly performance of The Wizard of Oz on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. is a special showing to provide a comfortable and inclusive experience through measures such as relaxed theatre rules, extended intermission, consistent sound levels, and subtle lighting changes. To prepare audience members for the show, the CPHS Theatre Department has created several supportive resources on their website including a picture schedule to outline the sequence of events and ease pre-performance anxiety. A map provides information about key areas in the theatre, including entrances, restrooms, and quiet spaces. “This is our second year offering a sensory-friendly performance,” said J. Flewelling, CPHS Theatre adviser. “We’re proud to offer an inclusive experience not just for our students but for the larger Northwest Indiana community.”
