CPHS Bella Voce Wins State

Crown Point High School’s Bella Voce is celebrating a major achievement after earning the title of 2026 ISSMA Vocal Jazz State Champion, continuing the ensemble’s tradition of excellence on the state stage. Bella Voce was named the Honor Choir at the ISSMA Jazz State Finals and was the only all-girls ensemble competing in the category.

The 18-member group includes students from freshmen through seniors, including seven graduating seniors this year. Bella Voce has now qualified for state six times in the past nine years and is the only after-school choir ensemble at CPHS, giving all students the opportunity to audition and participate.

Along with the state championship honor, Bella Voce earned Best Soprano Section honors while junior Jayla Miller received an Outstanding Soloist award for her performance.

The video clip below features a portion of the jazz standard “They Say It’s Spring,” arranged by composer and Western Michigan University Director of Vocal Jazz Greg Jasperse. The performance includes improvised scat solos by Lili Cuevas, Jayla Miller and Lily Egan.

Under the direction of CPHS Choral Director Bill Woods, the ensemble’s combination of talent, dedication and passion for music has helped Bella Voce continue to shine among the state’s top vocal jazz programs. “It is an honor to work with such wonderful musicians who have passion for their work,” Woods said.

Members of Bella Voce for the 2025-26 school year are Triniti Colbert, Lili Cuevas, Alyce Mehrle, Adi Sharp, Gracie Stout, Lily Egan, Delaney Garcia, Ellie Horan, Rana Stevens, Cailin Ward, Ashley Bohlen, Julia Murphy, Aurora Schreiber, Mellie Zurbriggen, Rosemary Coronado, Lia Lagos, Jayla Miller and America Vazquez.
