At the February school board meeting, the Board of School Trustees approved the 2025 summer school plan. There are some changes this year, which are driven by two factors:
- Changes in graduation/diploma requirements from the IDOE.
- The state is reprioritizing resources for summer school to meet early literacy goals.
At CPHS: Courses offered for summer school will be realigned with the new diploma requirements. Parents of 8th-11th graders and CPHS staff received a message on Tuesday, February 25th with more information that details the changes. For CPHS students, registration for summer school will be April 7th-May 9th. A link will be posted on the CPHS Guidance Department website to register, along with more detailed information about the course offerings.
For middle school: A grade 6 Basic Skills course will be provided at both middle schools. As part of Title I, small group instruction will be offered at Col. Wheeler Middle School. Principals will work with their teachers to identify students who should attend.
For elementary schools: Early literacy programs will be provided at all elementary schools. Small group instruction will be offered at MacArthur, Solon, and Timothy Ball Elementaries (Title I schools). For both programs, principals will work with teachers to identify students who should attend.
For Exceptional Education: The Extended-School-Year program will be provided for students in grades K-13 who qualify. More information will be provided from the Department of Exceptional Education.
